The new Borras Park Surgery replaces existing inadequate and run down accommodation, located between Borras Park Infants & Junior Schools.

The proposed building is sited close by and adjacent a group of existing sports pitches. Located within an underused car park, that has become a nuisance to local residents, the proposal rationalises the parking and access arrangements and includes a new sports pavilion, replacing the existing dilapidated and inadequate facility.

The 1,100m² accommodation is across 2 floors, with patient access to the ground floor and staff on the first floor. A new 130 m² pharmacy is included in a prominent position by the principal entrance.

The building is designed as a pavilion overlooking the sports pitches, with the plan arrangement considered in relation to Secured By Design principles.

The approach principal entrance reception and routes to the consulting rooms have been considered in detail to ensure a bright and welcoming patient experience.

The design adopts a pallet of local materials in keeping with neighbouring properties, highlighted in areas with feature cladding to reinforce the principal elevations and entrance to the building. The building will achieve BREEAM Healthcare Very Good generally, however, excellent in the energy section.

Funding for the project is currently being established, with a planning application anticipated in September 2012.
