Metro Halt

The refurbishment of the Metro ‘Halt’ Stations in Tyne & Wear is part of the North-East Metro Re-invigoration project for refurbishing and up-grading all the stations along the Metro transportation system.

The projects consist of a new plantroom with a fully integrated electrical & comms upgrade. The 30 year old station fabric is to be renewed including full re-cladding of the existing structure, new drainage & flooring surfaces as well as re-roofing & furniture. This should see the station’s use well beyond 2040.

North Shields Metro

Sadler Brown Architecture are working on the design of the new North Shields Metro Station in Tyne & Wear as part of the North-East Metro Re-invigoration project for refurbishing and up-grading all the stations along the Metro transportation system.

The design of the station has been responsive to the context of the site and its significant topographical constraints. The design also recognises that the station is part of a much wider transportation network and brand which is being promoted as an icon for the whole region. The design has therefore responded to the Metro context where passenger familiarity and commonality of design language throughout the system improve passenger comfort levels.
