Haymarket Hub was one of the most complex engineering and construction projects in the UK, with the foundations and steel frame being major civil engineering challenges. It was built with exceptional organisation and management skills over and around an operational railway.

Nexus took the opportunity during this development to redesign the existing Haymarket Metro station at the head of Northumberland Street. The refurbishment is seen as the precursor for the remainder of the Metro system stations for the Metro:all change programme, a reinvigoration programme to renew stations along the entire metro network. The proposals are to update the stations to comply with current regulations, whilst providing a further 30 year lifespan. The new design for Haymarket metro station opened up the platforms to emphasise the shape of the tunnels and create a feeling of space.
